R34 Discord Bot: Search Rule34 by Tags

SuccubusBot searches a third-party source; it does not own or promise the availability of Rule34 posts. Use the command in DMs or an age-restricted server channel, keep the search narrow, and save only the results you want to find again.

Use /booru r34 to search Rule34. Its optional tags field accepts the Rule34 tags you want to search. SuccubusBot requests matching posts, filters results against product and server restrictions, and shows a browsable result inside Discord.

Use this command when you already know you want Rule34 as the source. If you want to search across several supported imageboards instead, start with the broader imageboard guide. Keeping the source choice clear makes troubleshooting easier: you know whether the problem is the command, the tags, or the third-party source.

The command is for discovery, not permanent storage. A source post or file can change or disappear later. Save the post into a useful category or pool, but do not treat that as a guaranteed backup of the original file.

In a server, run R34 searches in an age-restricted channel. SuccubusBot needs permission to embed links, read message history, and add reactions in that channel. If searches fail in one channel, check the bot's permissions there as well as its server role.

For solo searches, you can use DMs or add SuccubusBot to your own Discord server. In your own server, use an age-restricted channel for the bot and organize the posts you save into personal categories.

For a shared server, follow its existing layout. If it has an age-restricted bot-commands channel, use that for searches. Check the channel topic or ask a moderator if you are unsure where to use the bot.

1. Add SuccubusBot to Discord and choose the server where you have permission to install it.
2. Open a suitable age-restricted channel or a DM with the bot.
3. Enter /booru r34 and place your search terms in the tags field.
4. Start with one subject tag. Add a rating tag or a second subject only when the first search is too broad.
5. Submit the command, browse the returned posts, and save only the result you want to revisit.

Rule34 searches use tags, not a sentence. Multiword tags commonly use underscores. For example, /booru r34 rating:explicit solo shows the shape of a focused query: a rating plus one subject tag.

You can use rating:safe, rating:questionable, or rating:explicit to narrow the source rating. A rating tag controls the source query; it does not replace your Discord channel rules or the bot's own content restrictions.

If a broad query works, refine it one tag at a time. When a long query fails, remove the newest tag first. That tells you whether one tag conflicts with the rest instead of forcing you to guess which part broke.

Start with the exact thing you want to find: a character, series, subject, format, or rating. Avoid stuffing every idea into the first query. Every extra tag asks the source for a smaller overlap, and a very specific combination may have no matching post.

A practical sequence is:

1. Search one known subject tag.
2. Add a rating tag that fits the channel.
3. Add one format or trait tag.
4. Stop when the results answer the search.

Tag vocabularies belong to the source, so spelling and underscores matter. If you are unsure about a tag, simplify the query and check the source's current tag vocabulary. SuccubusBot also applies platform and server restrictions. A blocked tag is not something to route around with alternate spelling; choose a permitted query.

Do not confuse R34 with every adult-media command. /booru r34 selects Rule34. Other /booru subcommands select other supported imageboards, while /booru hentai searches a wider group of boards. Use the narrow source when source control matters; use the broader route when the subject matters more than which board returns it.

The result controls let you move through available posts and open a save menu. Choose the destination based on what you need next.

Personal categories are the cleanest choice for your own reference sets. Use names that describe how you will search later, such as a series, character, visual style, or event idea. One useful category beats a pile of uncategorized saves. Use /saved list to browse categories or /saved random to revisit one.

ImagePools are for shared, server-owned collections. A manager can start one by adding a supported URL with /pool add, then use /pool random to bring a saved item back into the right channel. If an existing pool appears in the result's save menu, you can add the current post there. Read the ImagePool guide before turning a search feed into a recurring server feature.

Use personal saved categories to group posts by character, series, or another label you will recognize later. For a collection you share with the server, use an ImagePool.

Keep using the server's existing channels for searches and conversation. Saved categories and ImagePools let you organize the results without creating a Discord channel for each collection.

Q: /booru r34 does not appear or will not run in the channel.
A: Confirm that SuccubusBot is installed, the channel is age-restricted, and the bot can embed links, read message history, and add reactions there. Check channel overrides, not only the server role. You can also try the command in a DM to separate a channel-permission problem from a command problem.

Q: The bot says “No results returned.”
A: Remove the newest tag and try again. Check underscores and the source's current tag name. A rating plus several subject tags may simply have no overlap. Rule34 is a third-party source, so a temporary source failure can also leave the bot with nothing to show.

Q: A tag is hidden.
A: Choose a different tag that fits the product, platform, and server restrictions. Server settings can add their own blocked tags. Do not treat a rejected tag as an invitation to bypass the filter.

Q: The save button cannot send a DM.
A: Check your Discord DM settings, then use a personal category instead. The result can only be sent when Discord allows the bot to open that DM path.

Q: A server ImagePool is missing from the save menu.
A: The menu lists pools available in the current server. Make sure you ran the search in the intended server and that the pool still exists. A manager can create or inspect pools with the current /pool commands. Save to a personal category while the server collection is being fixed.

Q: A saved source post no longer opens.
A: The original host may have changed or removed it. Saved posts and ImagePools help you organize source links; they are not guaranteed permanent copies of third-party media.
